What are the health benefits of kombucha?

Kombucha is rich in probiotics – a good version of gut bacteria that has been linked to healthier hearts, lowering anxiety and improved digestive health. It can also be part of a natural detox if you’re pursuing a healthy diet.

Like other fermented foods such as yoghurts and sauerkraut, kombucha contains microorganisms that the gut is glad to welcome. The boffins say the jury is still out as to whether there is enough beneficial bacteria for it to be badged an effective probiotic. However, as it’s made from green tea, it’s thought that it could offer the same health benefits as that antioxidant-rich drink.
